Twitter Heaven...Who To Follow

In honor of the 5th year of Twitter, Sports Illustrated released its "Twitter 100" the 100 people in sports you need to follow.  Their list is here: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/more/07/12/twitter100/index.html?eref=sihp&sct=hp_t12_a2

Here are the 18 people on that list that I follow:

1.Jay Bilas: @JayBilas - Tweets mostly about NCAA and NBA hoops, but cracks on the NCAA for its amateurism rules a ton as well.  Jay is always good for self-depricating humor as well as Bill Raftery drinking stories.

2.Andrew Brandt: @abrandt - Andrew runs The National Football Post, an outstanding football website.  He is a former capologist for the Green Bay Packers and is very good at diagnosing NFL free agency and contract disputes.

3.Mark Cuban: @mcuban - I'm not sure why I follow Cuban.  It's been a while since anything worthwhile came out of his feed.

4.Jonathan Givony: @DraftExpress - The best scout I've seen for the NBA draft. He's especially good at identifying and giving thorough scouting reports on the foreign prospects.

5.Kelly Dwyer: @KDonhoops - Kelly runs the Yahoo sports NBAblog.  Funny guy.

6.Jay Glazer: @Jay_Glazer - Glazer breaks the most NFL stories and covers a ton of MMA.

7.Jeff Goodman: @GoodmanCBS - If you haven't figured it out yet, I am a major hoops junkie. Jeff is the best college writer in the business.

8.Andy Katz: @andykatz - Another good college writer that breaks quite a few hoops stories.

9.Kevin Love: @kevinlove - The Timberwolves All Star Forward is very funny and a good hoops critic.

10.Daryl Morey: @dmorey - Not very many executives have the balls to give their unfiltered praise and criticism of themselves and their opponents.  The Rockets GM is a must follow for Houston Sports fans.

11.Jay Paterno: @jaypaterno - The legendary coach's son allows me to stay some what rooted to my birthplace.

12.Ken Rosenthal: @ken_rosenthal - probably the best national baseball reporter in terms of breaking trades.

13.Adam Schefter: @adamschefter - NFL news breaker, but lacks knowledge on pretty much any other subject.

14.Bill Simmons: @sportsguy33 -ESPN's most expensive online employee is always good for a few laughs, but if you hate Boston sports, you won't want to follow him.

15.Mark Spears: @SpearsNBAYahoo - Spears is the lesser of the two yahoo writers in terms of breaking stories, but he aggregates a ton of NBA news.

16.Marc Stein: @stein_line_hq - Marc breaks alot of news, but I generally disagree with his NBA analysis.

17.Pete Thamel: @PeteThamelNYT - A dogged college reporter who breaks a ton of scandal stories.

18.Adrian Wojnarowski: @WojNBAYahoo - Probably the top NBA writer in the biz as we speak.

Station twitter feeds aside (and I'm sure you are already following, @SportsMT, @awexler, @MJ4Sports, @SportsRV, @FarbTweets, @MC790, @GlennDavisSOC, @790DougPike @themightygwinn)

Here are 25 more people that did not make SI's list, that I would follow if I were you.  By no means is this my complete follow list, but I'm just guessing that you might not be following these people.

1.Derrick Hanna: @dskillzhtown - Technology guru, UH fan, video game fan, beer drinking buddy, is there anything this man can't do?
2.Joe Madden: @RaysJoeMadden - I find the Rays skipper to be honest to a fault about his own team and other MLB issues.

3.Derrick Pittman: @DerekNovaScotia - He's a Canadian Ginger, but trust me, the dude gets more tail than a toilet seat.  If you're married or have a girlfriend, not the worst idea in the world to live vicariously through this guy.

4.Michelle Beadle :@ESPN_Michelle - one of the funniest chicks on the net.  The only reason to allow human cloning.

5.MK Bower: @moisekapenda - A writer for Foxsportshouston.com, MK covers a variety of sports and I think has the most objective views in the city.

6.Aaron Schatz: @FO_ASchatz - The founder of football outsiders can give you every football statistic you could ever want and even some that you did not know existed.  His publication is a must have before you draft your fantasy football teams or make future wagers on the NFL.

7.Grant Wahl:  @GrantWahl - SI's World Soccer reporter.  If you like soccer, you need to follow him.

8.Kris Gardner: @TheHRReview - Houston's most tenured basketball writer covers local hoops at all levels.  This guy works his butt off to give you the best perspective and most indepth interviews with coaches and players.

9.NotGaryKubiak: @NotGaryKubiak - Exactly how Gary Kubiak would sound if he was on Twitter....but he's not Gary Kubiak.

10.The Iron Sheik: @TheIronSheik - The legendary wrestler is most assuredly NSFW, but if you have thick skin and are not easily offended, I guarentee a belly laugh.

11.Chris Solis: @ChrisSolis - pain stakingly dry sense of humor and the bonus of gambling tips (no wonder I like this guy).

12.The Sklar Brothers: @SklarBrothers - Twin Comedians, if you don't already know who they are, you probably don't want to follow them.

13.Rob Sellers: @CougarsDen - Rob is pretty much the only guy in Houston that covers UH Athletics...well except for me.

14.Wes Bunting: @WesBunting - I think he's the best NFL draft scout in the business.

15.Danny Vara @heydannyv - One of my good friends and former radio buddies.  He follows boxing, TV, all pop culture and as an added bonus he was once sued by Terri Hatcher.

16.Chad Millman: @ChadMillman - ESPN's Gambling guru is a must follow if you like to wager.

17.Allen Reid: @Allen_Reid - One of the longest tenured sports photographer's in America, Allen usually gets some great shots of breaking news and has a killer sense of humor to boot.

18.Matt Bowen: @MattBowen41 - a 7 year NFL career was cut short due to concussions, but Bowen has a better eye than pretty much anyone breaking down NFL film for The National Football Post.

19.Eric Winston: @ericwinston - The Texans starting RT has a great sense of humor and good opinions on a variety of sports and non-sports topics.

20. Eddie Johnson: @jumpshot8 - The Former NBA Gunner with the sweet J, still works for the Suns as a game analyst but gives good analysis of all the teams in the league.

21. Jay Christiansen: @JayChristiansen -  Jay runs The Wizard of Odds blog, which is the best source for college football stories on the net.

22. Dustin Crider: @Homestead7 - One of the best MMA analysts on the net.

23.Kirk Bohls: @kbohls - columnist for the Austin American Statesman has the best UT information and his sunday column is always one of the best.

24. Bruce Hooley: @BHoolz - Excellent college writer who broke the Ohio State scandal among other stories.

25. The Honky Tonk Man: @OfficialHTM - He's Cool, He's Cocky, He's Bad
